Position: Senior Transport Manager

Line Reporting Manager: Head of Fleet & Compliance (MTS)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7am - 5pm, 1hour unpaid lunch
Salary: £45,000
Principle Duties And Accountabilities
- To manage the transport team across the STW contract, taking responsibility for the companys O Licenses across the contract, along with managing the fleet and compliance.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Manage service requirements within the contract, along with managing the costs within the service requirements.
- Supporting the contract with vehicle requirements along with liaising on service requirements / needs.
- Use standard and in-house software for a range of tasks including vehicle management and costing as well as reporting and administration.
- Strong commercial acumen and management experience. You should be able to manage P&Ls and costs for the fleet.
- Strategic overview of logistics service within the contract, responsible for KPI management.
- Manage day-to-day issues involving VPR checks, insuring these are carried out correctly.
- Ensure operatives always keep their vehicles in a clean and roadworthy condition.
- Ensure departmental and logistics objectives are met in the most appropriate way, highlighting current deficiencies, and ensuring best practice and guidelines are adhered to.
- Liaise with and assist generally other sections on the contract in the delivery of operational and administrative services to internal and external customers
- Always perform tasks in accordance with H&S and statutory procedures having regard also to the Companys quality management system
- Accident investigations & reporting in line with company policies and procedures.
- Be confident in carrying out disciplinary hearings / investigations
- Liaise with MTS Transport Team & Compliance team.
- Be responsible for the company O License requirements along with vehicle allocations on the licenses.
- Support team with planning inspections and maintenance records
- Controlling & monitoring vehicle inventory & audits.
- Transport Compliance monitoring Monitor & Audit Satellite depots, Manage relationships with suppliers, Liaise with client & depot lead in relation to parking and depot management.
- Overseeing and managing driver logbooks, including all infringements.
- Monitor service records ensuring fleet compliance.
- Monitoring any hire vehicles used and ensuring they are fully compliant with the correct paperwork.
- Keep up to date fleet list ensuring the vehicles are fully compliant.
Health & Safety

The Transport Manager Health And Safety Responsibilities Are
- To understand and implement the company health and safety policy
- To ensure and monitor the health, safety and welfare of all staff/sub-contractors working under their remit
- To influence and promote a positive health, safety culture within the organisation and lead by example
- To carry out at least 1 x IMS527 Senior Manager tour of works area and 1 x Weekly SHEF report for the depot/offices/workshop. Copies of these are to be submitted to their respective SHEQW representative by the end of each month
- To investigate all occupational accidents and incidents using the company 2, 2, 2 process and produce detailed reports with supplementary evidence with support from the SHEQW department
- To report all health, safety and environmental incidents to relevant persons and your SHEQW representative upon notification or at least within 2 hours
- To ensure safety briefings/TBTs are delivered and signed registers are completed
- To ensure you are aware of the company fire and first aid arrangements, and emergency evacuation procedure
Qualifications / Competency
- Previous managerial experience including fleet resources
- Proven transport management experience.
- Certificate of professional competence Road Haulage (National/International).
- Knowledge of current Road Transport and Operators licensing legislation
- Previous experience in the transport, waste or logistics industry desired
- Must have the ability to take on responsibility for your own workload
- Proficiently using Microsoft Office systems including Word and Excel
