Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer to lead the Liveable Places team in Newcastle with hybrid working. You will deliver a range of schemes from concept to delivery including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and modelling.

You will support bid preparation, mentor junior colleagues, and drive collaborative, high‑performing teamwork across disciplines while aligning with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience delivering highways, public realm or transport infrastructure from concept to construction.
• Technical knowledge in assessment and design of highways/transport projects.
• Experience delivering public realm, active travel or transport schemes in complex urban environments.
• Proven ability to manage project programmes, budgets, and financial reporting across multiple live projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee delivery of sustainable transport and public realm projects from concept to on-site implementation.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, risks and reporting to ensure safe and high-standard delivery.
• Build and maintain client relationships and collaborate with team members across disciplines.
• Support delivery in line with project management frameworks and safety requirements.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the Liveable Places team.
