Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a Senior Transport Planner (Transport Data Officer) to lead the development of our transport data capability and ensure high-quality evidence informs planning, investment and performance monitoring across the city.

You will manage transport data systems, establish a data library, analyse datasets, develop indicators and report on outcomes, working with colleagues, partners and decision-makers across the city and region.

Qualifications

• Experience analysing and interpreting complex datasets for clear insights.
• Knowledge of data management principles and performance reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to support evidence-based transport planning decisions.
• Develop performance indicators and monitoring frameworks aligned with city objectives.
• Monitor and report on transport outcomes across the council and partners.
• Collaborate with transport planners, engineers, data specialists and external partners.
