Job description

Senior Transport Clerk

Location: Rugby (transport required due to location)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm during training; 4 on 4 off days, 6am - 6pm going forward

Contract: Ongoing temporary, potentially permanent for the right candidate

Salary: £29,000

Our large expanding logistics client in Rugby is seeking a forward-thinking, proactive individual to join their busy team. This role is suitable for someone with experience in a busy transport office seeking the next step.

Main Tasks:
  1. Reporting and escalating vehicle and trailer defects to the fleet department
  2. Completing daily risk assessments
  3. Ensuring compliance with the Working Time Directive for the driver workforce
  4. Recording and following through on DVSA stops
  5. Pro-active coordination of driver CPC records
  6. Absence management
  7. Handling new starter and leaver details
  8. Managing driver holiday requests and shift variations
  9. Dealing with vehicle maintenance
  10. Supporting management with driver compliance
Person Specification:
  1. Proven experience in the Transport & Logistics industry
  2. Excellent organisation and communication skills
  3. Good understanding of Health and Safety processes
  4. Strong people engagement skills and self-driven
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment
  6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  7. Strong analytical skills
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  9. Effective time management skills
