Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Senior Transformation Manager to lead delivery of high-priority transformation programmes across the business, enabling measurable benefits for customers, colleagues and communities.

You’ll work across matrix and virtual teams, directing the SCADA Mapping programme and embedding major change. A background in consulting or utilities is highly desirable, with strong stakeholder management and pragmatic, collaborative leadership.

Thames Water is undergoing one of the most significant business transformations in our history. As we develop multi-year plans to improve how we operate, we’re looking for talented Senior Transformation Managers to help shape, drive and deliver critical programmes that support our Transformation Plan.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Transformation Manager

As a Senior Transformation Manager, you’ll lead the successful delivery of high-priority programmes that enable real, measurable benefits for our customers, colleagues and communities. You’ll work across a variety of environments – sometimes leading a matrix team, sometimes supporting one, and sometimes delivering individually – bringing clarity, structure and momentum to complex programmes. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure each programme is well-defined, justified and delivered to a high standard.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with drive, pragmatism and a passion for making meaningful change. Experience of operational turnaround or large-scale efficiency programmes is essential, and a background in consulting or the utilities sector is highly desirable.

This specific Senior Transformation Manager role is initially focused on delivery of our SCADA Mapping programme; you’ll be responsible for leading and embedding major change across the business, including:

• Managing the successful delivery of the SCADA Mapping programme, driving alignment between SCADA and asset management systems, enabling teams across the business to realise greater value from SCADA data and insights.
• Acting as the single point of contact for programme delivery status.
• Leading and motivating programme teams and stakeholders.
• Keeping programme sponsors engaged and informed.
• Ensuring programme interdependencies are understood, managed and aligned with the wider operational portfolio.
• Role modelling a professional services culture across Thames Water.
• Driving best-in-class methodologies and embedding meaningful, lasting change across the organisation.

Working pattern: Full-time

Requirements for the role: Ability to travel across Thames Water’s catchment area when required. Typically 2 days/week in Reading Office, and 2 days/month in London Office.

The management skills we’re looking for:

• A proven track record of delivering complex programmes end-to-end.
• Experience leading matrix and virtual teams, as well as delivering individually.
• Demonstrable experience driving major business transformation and change initiatives.
• Strong internal and external stakeholder management at a senior level.
• Ability to influence, challenge and engage at pace.
• A background in consulting or utilities (desirable).

The technical skills we’re looking for:

• Ability to act as the conduit between operational, technical (Operational, digital, data etc.) and business teams (asset management, data insights, etc.), fostering collaboration and driving pragmatic solutions.
• Good digital and data literacy.
• A strong understanding of asset management systems, asset data and asset hierarchies, and their implementation and use within the utilities sector (desirable).
• Understanding of asset management principles and best practice in relation to asset data (desirable).
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and their application within the utilities sector (desirable).
• Ability to manage and support a team of data analysts, underpinned by own practical data analysis experience (desirable).
