The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist will be based at HydraForce Hydraulics in Birmingham, England.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Lead the planning and implementation of projects from scope definition to execution, ensuring objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
  2. Ensure import and export shipments comply with governmental regulations by managing inquiries and requests from brokers, forwarders, manufacturing sites, and distribution centers to facilitate efficient and compliant movement of products and components.
  3. Identify opportunities for process improvement in customs and trade compliance transactions.
  4. Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives in trade processes.
  5. Manage HydraForce's Customs and Trade Compliance record-keeping programs.
  6. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  7. Support the Trade Compliance Manager with compliance activities and step in during their absence.
  8. Assign and review Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTS), updating master data and broker databases.
  9. Assist with the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) program.
  10. Maintain reports and KPIs related to customs and trade compliance.
  11. Develop and maintain compliance processes and training activities.
  12. Review and approve customs broker invoices.
  13. Evaluate and mitigate potential customs and trade compliance risks.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in international trade compliance, including import and export regulations.
  • Experience with customs brokerage is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of HTS classification in UK, US, Europe, and global markets.
  • Understanding of export controls in UK, Europe, and US.
  • Experience working with multinational teams and effective communication skills across various formats and audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and incorporate diverse data sources.
  • Proven ability to develop strategies, create actionable plans, and manage their implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated to research and learn about new global trade compliance requirements.
