Responsibilities

Senior Town Planner

Location: Cornwall

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an award-winning housebuilder in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their growing in-house planning team in Cornwall.

Our client is a well-established, design-led residential developer known for delivering high-quality homes and thriving communities across the South West. With a strong pipeline of sites and ambitious plans for growth, they are now looking for a commercially aware Senior Town Planner to help deliver strategic and immediate planning objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional who wants to be closer to the development process, working across the full planning lifecycle - from site acquisition strategy through to delivery. You'll work collaboratively across internal departments including land, design, and technical, and engage externally with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders.

What the Senior Town Planner role involves:

Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, and pre-application enquiries

*

Supporting the land team with appraisals and due diligence

*

Liaising with local authorities, consultants, and legal teams to progress applications

*

Keeping up to date with changes in planning policy and legislation

*

Advising on planning risks and opportunities throughout the development cycle

*

Assisting in community engagement and consultation strategies

What we're looking for:

*

MRTPI qualified (or working towards with strong relevant experience)

*

3+ years' experience in planning, either consultancy or client-side

*

Solid understanding of the UK planning system and residential development

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

*

Organised, proactive, and commercially minded

*

Full UK driving licence
