Job description
Overview

Are you passionate about shaping a net-zero, climate-resilient future? At Stantec, we're not just talking about sustainability, we're delivering it. Join our growing team and help drive innovative, high-impact strategies across some of the UK's most exciting projects.

We're looking for a Senior to Principal Sustainability Consultant to work with clients ranging from local authorities to major developers. You'll lead the development of energy and carbon strategies, contribute to planning applications and masterplans, and advise on sustainable design from concept to delivery.

In this client-facing role, you'll bring expertise in environmental design, building performance modelling (IES, Radiance, ApacheSIM), and UK planning policy—particularly GLA requirements. A background in broader sustainability topics like whole-life carbon or climate risk is a bonus.

At Stantec, you'll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values innovation, knowledge-sharing, and real impact.

About you

To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong track record as a Sustainability Consultant and the following:

  • A relevant degree (BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) or equivalent/higher).
  • Proven experience working as a consultant, with a track record in project delivery, client engagement, project management, and financial/people management.
  • A comprehensive understanding of building environmental design and sustainability in the built environment as various scales.
  • A proven track record in building environmental modelling, building physics, and other sustainability models such as energy modelling, and overheating and daylight/sunlight.
  • Proficiency with IES modelling, including Radiance, ApacheSIM, SBEM, and Macroflow. Knowledge of Apache HVAC is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience working with master planning and planning across a range of asset classes (ideally mixed-use projects) including energy strategy development.
  • Experience delivering planning reports against LPAs across the UK in different contexts, in particular Greater London Authority (GLA) policy requirements and detailed knowledge of applying GLA policy in different contexts.
  • Appetite for involvement in wider sustainability disciplines such as whole lifecycle carbon, circular economy, climate risk and adaptation encouraged.

If you're ready to bring your enthusiasm and expertise to a team that's genuinely passionate about creating a more sustainable future, we'd love to hear from you.
