Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4-6 years' UK-based civil infrastructure experience in a consultancy environment.

Position: Senior to Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Leeds
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 (depending on experience)


About the Company


This is a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy of Chartered Engineers based in Leeds, currently seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Infrastructure Engineer to support growing project demand and help lead the continued development of their civil engineering team.


You’ll be joining a thriving firm known for technical excellence and collaborative delivery. This role offers a clear progression path with the potential to move into a director-level position with company shareholding for the right candidate.


The Role


As a senior figure within their infrastructure division, you will lead a team of 8–10 Engineers and Technicians in the roads and sewers department. Your focus will be on managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure designs and reports.


While the role is primarily based in Leeds and the North of England, occasional UK-wide travel to client sites will be required.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and review the quality of technical designs and reports.
  • Manage and mentor engineering staff, including involvement in recruitment.
  • Lead client meetings and project negotiations with stakeholders and approving authorities.
  • Monitor progress across multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and standards are met.
  • Act as primary client contacts for assigned projects.
  • Prepare and review Health & Safety documentation.
  • Design highways and drainage infrastructure (S38, S278, S104), including SUDS.
  • Use design software such as MicroDrainage, PDS, and AutoCAD to produce and check engineering solutions.
  • Take projects from concept to completion, producing drainage strategies and liaising with local authorities and water boards.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum of 4-6 years’ UK-based civil infrastructure experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of highways and drainage design standards.
  • Comfortable managing teams and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Skilled communicator with experience leading client meetings and design coordination.
  • Proactive and confident in driving project delivery.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and holds a valid UK driving licence.
