Job summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking a Senior InfoSec Engineer to strengthen cybersecurity across the organisation. You will investigate alerts, contain incidents, and drive detections and MSOC improvements.

The role involves implementing EDR, SIEM, UEBA, SWG and DLP, collaborating with Global IT teams to enhance security controls and ensure proactive protection across the IT estate.

Qualifications

• Experience in SOC, CSIRT or detection engineering roles with hands-on incident response.
• Strong knowledge of common attack techniques, MITRE ATT&CK framework, and risk-based escalation.
• Experience working in ISO27001 or equivalent security management environment.
• Scripting or automation experience and API usage for repeatable response steps.
• Ability to explain risk clearly to non-specialists and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop blue team and threat hunting capabilities to harden IT controls.
• Design, deploy and harden system configurations across enterprise devices.
• Triage alerts from SIEM/EDR and separate genuine threats from false positives.
• Lead incident investigations from validation through containment, eradication and recovery.
• Develop, tune and validate detection logic, queries, rules and dashboards.
• Collaborate with MSOC and Incident Response Team on improvements.
• Work with third parties to securely configure platforms (EDR, SIEM/SOAR, SWG, DLP).
• Advise on security architecture improvements and vendor changes.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and post-incident reports.
• Turn findings into measurable improvements to playbooks and telemetry.
