Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic, motivated Theatre Clinical Specialists to join our Plastics Team and contribute to the expansion of our services.

A dedicated team at Salisbury District Hospital provides a comprehensive range of plastic surgery services, including acute and reconstructive burns care, cleft surgery for children across Salisbury and Oxford regions, and trauma as well as elective reconstructive procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialist environment within the renowned Odstock Regional Centre for Burns, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery.

Plastics also forms part of a specialty network that includes Burns and Reconstructive Surgery. While these posts are for Plastics, there is scope to further develop your knowledge and skills across the broader specialty areas. The activity is organized between Main Theatres and Day Surgery, with plenty of support from our Senior Team Lead for successful applicants.

We offer personal and professional development within a friendly and collaborative environment. Our excellent Departmental Education Team provides training opportunities to help enhance your skills and progress your career. If you have experience of working in a plastics theatre and are looking for an exciting opportunity, please apply.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver high quality evidence-based care with attention to patient experience.
  • Supervise and develop junior staff and learners, liaising with the education team.
  • Demonstrating efficient list management and an awareness of operational issues. Assist in the department’s recovery plan to maximise theatre utilisation and to minimise delays.
  • Attend multidisciplinary scheduling meetings to plan care and manage theatre time effectively.
  • Working closely with materials management and procurement to manage effective stock control through cost effective practice.
  • Conversant with the Datix reporting system- working with the department to manage action plans and learning outcomes, to help reduce risk and enhance patient safety.
  • Assist in the equipment needs of the service by helping to rationalise instrumentation and helping with the capital bid process.
  • Undertake line management duties such as return to work interviews, 1 to 1 meetings and appraisal
