Job Description

Ultra Precision Control Systems is seeking a Senior Test Sustainment Engineer to join the Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of internal ATEs, chambers, and supporting equipment. This role involves supporting the implementation of innovative technologies, including IoT, to advance PCS towards a 'factory of the future'. The position provides test system services across the production portfolio based in Cheltenham and Ultra’s Test Centre.

The role involves working with a variety of test equipment, requiring skills in hardware/software troubleshooting, electronics, and test compliance (ATP, ESS/HASS). Responsibilities include the validation, implementation, and sustainment of operational test support and infrastructure, ensuring delivery in line with technical, quality, and cost requirements. The role also emphasizes continuous improvement in quality, process efficiency, and work centre utilization, while minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage tactical test support activities and contribute to Test Systems Strategy development.
  • Ensure weekly production and service commitments meet quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and support engineering on new products.
  • Ensure products are tested and shipped according to procedures.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Engineering in investigating faulty products and produce investigation reports with improvement recommendations.
  • Provide regular updates on unit status to customers.
  • Define and review test requirements during NPI and support financial justification for build and test strategies.
  • Represent operations in gate reviews to ensure appropriate verification and validation of test equipment.
  • Plan and organize testing activities effectively.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with aerospace standards (e.g., EASA Part 21, Part 145, AS9100).
  • Experience in test solutions, digitization, and dashboard creation.
  • Electronics Engineering degree.
  • Qualification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
  • Fault finding and servicing knowledge on test equipment.
  • Innovation in manufacturing processes and data exploitation for FPY, asset management, and automation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-driven with good performance monitoring abilities.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and perform assembly and soldering.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Methodical, conscientious, and accurate with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Adaptable problem solver and effective communicator across departments.
  • Willingness to learn, progress, and take on new challenges.
