Senior Test Development Engineer, Harlow
This position is based in Harlow, United Kingdom, with a requirement to work on-site 4 days a week. The role is a 12-month contract, inside IR35, working with a leading defence and aerospace company that provides solutions across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for UK government and international clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, manufacture, verification, and validation of test equipment at board, sub-system, and system levels.
- Lead the design and ensure the quality of test equipment, providing guidance to junior engineers.
- Document design specifications, participate in design reviews, and uphold design standards.
- Develop robust hardware solutions to meet complex system requirements.
- Implement detailed technical components with an understanding of system-level integration.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system design, interfaces, and protocols.
- Create and validate test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and product queries.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and uphold company policies and ethics.
- Manage engineering risks and opportunities, contribute to resource planning, and lead small to medium test engineering programs.
Knowledge & Experience
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or related field, preferably 2.1 Hons or higher.
- Strong knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Experience in technical documentation and managing designs through production.
- Ability to support and debug system integration.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Eligibility for MOD Security Clearance at SC level.
Highly Desirable Skills
- Experience with Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB design tools.
- Understanding of test architectures like PXI and LXI.
- Knowledge of measurement uncertainty in test equipment design.
- Familiarity with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, and C# software development.
