Do you enjoy solving complex challenges at the heart of digital innovation? Are you keen to see your work making a real positive impact on UK citizens' lives? If so, join our Central Government business here at CGI as a Senior Test Automation Analyst.

We work on projects that enhance services, transform organisations, and ultimately make everyday life easier for people. At CGI, you’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive environment where your development matters as much as the solutions you create.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List and has been named one of the ‘World’s Best Employers’ by Forbes magazine. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a member, not just an employee.

We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent, and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces. We are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

This is a hybrid working pattern role. Ideally, you will be based within a commutable distance to one of the following CGI offices: Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, or Birmingham. However, we will consider candidates from other UK locations.

All applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) to Security Check (SC) level as a minimum.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

You’ll be working on a flagship programme that helps positively impact UK citizens' lives. As the digital transformation for this programme takes shape, our teams have expanded significantly, and we have recently restructured to bring clearer accountabilities and greater focus on successful delivery.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for testing applications that support client services and collaborating with delivery teams, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your responsibilities include:

  • Review requirements and specifications; define test conditions; create test scripts for manual and automation execution using test tooling solutions like Playwright.
  • Raise and manage defects, help prioritize them based on severity and impact using defect management tools such as JIRA.
  • Ensure products are accessibility compliant and meet departmental standards.
  • Share best practices, actively network within DWP and outside to improve consistency, and support others in their work delivery.
  • Evaluate software applications to identify bugs and ensure optimal functionality.
  • Execute test cases to detect defects and improve usability.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, scripts, and reports.
  • Ensure software meets user requirements and performance expectations.
  • Mentor other testers and promote best practices in testing and quality assurance.
Required qualifications:

We’re looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills, capable of leading testing efforts within agile teams. You should have hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing, with confidence in planning and managing testing across multiple projects, and working well with cross-functional teams. You will also lead, coach, and mentor others, promoting best practices.

Additionally, you should demonstrate some or all of the following:

  • Experience testing within an agile environment with a proven track record of producing, maintaining comprehensive, robust, and reliable test automation scripts in a CICD environment from business requirements, documenting defects, highlighting risks, offering solutions, and monitoring resolution.
  • A strong understanding of CICD approaches and tooling in AWS and Git.
  • A proactive, can-do approach to work, with the ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze situations to identify testing requirements for UIs and APIs, including non-functional testing.
  • Ability to work comfortably with technical and specialist stakeholders, acting as a facilitator to elicit information, which may need escalation.

Experience in the following tech stack is also required: BDD, Java, Selenium, Spring Boot, AWS, GitLab CI, Docker, Stubbing, Swagger, MongoDB.
