The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for creating test cases based on in-depth technical analysis of functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability). They develop traceability records linking test cases to requirements, produce automated and manual test scripts, regression test packs, and materials to test new and amended software or services.
The Senior Test Analyst specifies requirements for environment, data, resources, and tools. They interpret, execute, and document complex test scripts, record and analyze results, and maintain a defect register. They review test results, modify tests as necessary, and report on progress, anomalies, risks, and issues. They also produce system quality reports and collect metrics on test cases. Additionally, they provide guidance and mentorship to other testers and review requirements to define test conditions. The role may also involve deputising for the Lead Test Analyst.
