Location: Manchester or Hebburn - This is a hybrid role which will allow you to split your time between home and either the Manchester or Hebburn office. The role will require travel occasionally between the two offices.

Join Siemens Electrification & Automation as we revolutionize energy systems by bridging the real and digital worlds. As our Senior Tendering Engineer, you'll craft innovative power solutions that energise critical infrastructure across the UK and Ireland.

You'll make a difference by:
  • Generate high-quality technical and commercial proposals for medium-voltage switchgear (AIS/GIS), protection systems, and digital solutions using Siemens' design tool NXTools.
  • Review RFQs and enquiry documents to understand customer requirements from both technical and commercial perspectives.
  • Prepare budgetary and firm bids, including offer documentation, cost calculations, delivery timelines, supporting proposal materials.
  • Interpret customer specifications and tender documents to develop compliant and competitive offers.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure accurate specifications and competitive pricing.
  • Provide technical clarifications to internal stakeholders (Sales, Operations, Engineering).
  • Participate in technical discussions with clients and partners to support proposal alignment.
  • Engage with customers and partners to clarify requirements and present proposals professionally.
  • Maintain project tracking tools and contribute to achieving order intake targets.
  • Analyze bid outcomes (win/loss) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute cost optimization ideas to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, sales, procurement, and project management to ensure accurate costings, risk assessments, proposal optimization, and effective delivery strategies.
  • Support internal bid reviews and approvals, ensuring compliance with Siemens' technical and commercial governance.

You'd describe yourself as
  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong MV systems knowledge
  • Understanding of protection schemes
  • Digital substation technology experience
  • Commercial acumen
  • Proven experience in energy/utilities sector
  • Understanding of switchgear market
  • Knowledge of utility, ICP, and EPC requirements
  • Siemens switchgear experience (advantageous)
