Job summary

A global leader in engineering staffing is currently seeking a Senior Telecoms Engineer for a major energy project in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire. This hybrid role requires extensive experience in telecoms engineering, focusing on the Access Control System package from design to commissioning. Ideal candidates will have a degree in a relevant field and experience with SIP, VoIP, and project management. The contract is for an initial period of 12 months, outside IR35.

Qualifications

NES Fircroft is currently recruiting for a Senior Telecoms Engineer for our client, a global leader in electrification and automation. The Senior Telecoms Engineer will be responsible for delivering the ACS (Access Control System) package for a major energy project, covering design, installation, and commissioning phases.

Location: St. Neots, Cambridgeshire

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Office based)

Duration: 12 months+

Contract Type: Outside IR35

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Telecoms Engineer to oversee the design, maintenance, optimisation, and implementation of telecommunications systems, primarily focusing on the ACS package, from ground-up design to installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and manage telecommunication systems and the ACS package.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity, bandwidth, and signal integrity issues.
  • Lead incident response and resolution for telecom outages or service degradation.
  • Collaborate with vendors and carriers for provisioning, upgrades, and support.
  • Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in telecoms engineering or network infrastructure.
  • Experience working with ACS.
  • Deep knowledge of SIP, VoIP, MPLS, SD-WAN, and PBX systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and performance monitoring software.
  • Familiarity with network security protocols and redundancy planning.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent (desirable).
