About the job.

National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technology Engineer to join our team in the Yorkshire, North East region. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical expertise in identifying and evaluating technology asset needs and early solutions, ensuring adherence to asset policies and standards.

This position will be based in our Darlington, Leeds, or Wakefield office, with a balance of remote and office-based work.

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points on your license to be considered for this position and during employment.

  • Develop early solutions for improvements and renewals, including compiling relevant documents, evidence, and options for value management, considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
  • Identify, prepare briefs, and manage the delivery of survey works supporting asset improvements and renewals.
  • Develop the region's asset-led forward programme and initial scheme development.
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers, including materials approvals, vetting contractor compliance, site inspections, and reviewing health and safety files.
  • Review third-party designs for compliance with design and maintenance requirements.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, investigations, and technology research to provide innovative solutions.

About you.

  • A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, and a member of a relevant professional body, with appropriate experience.
  • Degree or HND in a related discipline and relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience with ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems).
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network.
