With a strong Confirmed Order Book and growing pipeline of multidisciplinary Renewable Energy Infrastructure Projects covering On-shore Wind, Major Substations, Transmission & Distribution Reinforcing Works, On-shore Cabling & Infrastructure for Off-shore Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineering Technician (Renewables Energy Infrastructure) to join our team in Glasgow.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the production of design packages for concept, tender, and detailed design phases of renewable energy projects, including wind, transmission, and other infrastructure access design, considering buildability, environmental constraints, and statutory approvals.
- Design site layouts and route options for planning approval and environmental assessments.
- Consider bridge and retaining structure geometry, flood levels, and coordinate geotechnical and structural designs.
- Perform catchment assessments, culvert hydraulic design, and secure necessary authorizations.
- Design sustainable drainage systems for rural and urban sites, including statutory consultations.
- Develop public highway design concepts or detailed designs, including geometry, drainage, signage, markings, and swept-path analysis, considering pavement design and construction details for road modifications, with relevant authority consultations.
- Assist in preparing tender submissions with multidisciplinary design statements and presentation drawings.
- Compile as-built drawings and records.
- Be aware of health, safety, and environmental hazards from design concept through detailed stages, working with the project team to develop hazard mitigation strategies.
- Serve as the point of contact for clients on selected work packages and participate in project meetings.
- Implement company project management and quality processes.
- Support financial targets through personal utilization.
- Seek guidance and feedback to improve work quality and timeliness.
- Develop skills to present and discuss technical work for review and approval.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to team objectives.
Who we’re looking for:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant software (Civils 3D, Flow, Micro-drainage, etc.).
- Experience with modeling and analysis of linear construction projects using Civils 3D.
- Knowledge of drainage pipe networks, attenuation systems, and culvert modeling software.
- Ability to apply DMRB and local road standards for access solutions.
- Ability to produce concise engineering and presentation drawings, technical reports, and calculations.
Qualifications:
- HND or HNC in Civil Engineering or similar qualification.
- BTEC Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or working towards such qualification.
