With a strong confirmed order book and a growing pipeline of multi-disciplinary renewable energy infrastructure projects covering on-shore wind, major substations, transmission & distribution reinforcing works, on-shore cabling, offshore wind infrastructure, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), we are expanding our team in Glasgow. We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Technician (Renewables Energy Infrastructure) to join our rapidly growing team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the production of design packages for concept, tender, and detailed design phases of renewable energy projects, including wind, transmission, and other infrastructure access designs, considering buildability, transport standards, environmental constraints, and statutory approvals.
- Develop site layout and route options for planning approval and environmental impact assessments.
- Design bridge and retaining structures, considering flood levels and geotechnical coordination.
- Perform catchment assessments, culvert hydraulic design, and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Design sustainable drainage solutions for rural or urban sites, including statutory consultations.
- Develop public highway design concepts, including geometry, drainage, signage, markings, and swept-path analysis, considering pavement design and construction details for modifications related to electrical component delivery.
- Assist in preparing tender submission packages with multidisciplinary design statements and presentation drawings.
- Compile as-built drawings and records.
- Be aware of health, safety, and environmental hazards from concept to detailed design, working with the project team to mitigate risks.
- Act as the point of contact for clients on selected work packages and participate in project meetings.
- Implement company project management and quality processes.
- Maintain awareness of financial targets and personal utilization.
- Seek guidance when needed while owning assigned tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Develop skills to present, discuss, and review technical work.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to team objectives.
Who we’re looking for:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant software such as Civils 3D, Flow, Micro-drainage.
- Experience in modeling and analysis of linear construction projects using Civils 3D.
- Knowledge of drainage pipe networks, attenuation systems, and culvert modeling software.
- Ability to apply DMRB and local road standards for access solutions.
- Ability to produce engineering drawings, reports, and calculations.
Qualifications:
- HND or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
- BTEC or equivalent certificate/diploma in Civil Engineering or working towards it.
