The Role

To lead hands-on build and testing activities within the Vehicle Development department, supporting prototype motorcycle builds, instrumentation, data collection, and test execution across track, rig, and global test environments. This role is critical to ensuring engineering requirements are met during development and that builds are executed with precision and traceability.

Duties/Responsibilities

Build & Assembly

• Lead and execute full vehicle, engine, and subsystem prototype builds
• Ensure adherence to build protocols, engineering tolerances, and documentation requirements
• Maintain detailed build logs and vehicle tracking throughout the development lifecycle.
  
  

Instrumentation & Test Support

• Fit data acquisition systems, sensors, and other instrumentation for vehicle testing.
• Support dynamic and static testing on track, rigs, climatic chambers, and road environments
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate data collection and feedback.
  
  

Issue Identification & Escalation

• Identify, log, and escalate technical issues through the PQM (Problem Quality Management) system
• Support root cause investigations and revalidation activities post-resolution
  
  

Mentorship & Oversight

• Support junior technicians through mentoring and skills transfer
• Deputise for the Workshop Manager when required, coordinating workshop activities and priorities
  
  

Global Support & Flexibility

• Provide hands-on support at global test facilities (Germany, Italy, India, etc.)
• Adapt to the demands of field testing, extended travel, and intensive development cycles
  
  

Workshop & Safety Management

• Contribute to workshop organisation, housekeeping, and enforcement of safety practices
• Participate in risk assessments for workshop and field-based activities
  
  

Personal Specification

• Proven experience (5+ years) in prototype motorcycle build, development, and test support
• Deep technical knowledge of motorcycle systems (chassis, engine, electronics, etc.)
• High attention to detail with experience working to engineering instruction for state of build control and tolerances
• Hands-on experience with data logging, instrumentation fitting and vehicle diagnostics
• Familiarity with DVP (Design Verification Plan) processes and test protocols
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and lead small sub-teams
• Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and mentoring
• Experience supporting testing in international or external facilities (preferred)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools
