Support a team of technicians - offering guidance and mentoring when applicableResponsible for maintenance/upkeep of the Marchwood site and liaising with estates team and external contractors to oversee maintenance and servicing of the site’s infrastructureSupport the lecturing staff on the delivery of courses to advise students of techniques and demonstrating safe use of tools and equipmentPreparing, setting up, clearing away, washing up where applicable and storing equipment and materials for lessons, demonstrations etc.Maintain the workshop areas in a safe and functional stateIssuing tools and equipment in a safe condition to students and staffAssisting students where applicable in areas of Marine Engineering/Marine Electrical/Boatbuilding/CompositesAssisting staff and students in the use of apparatus and equipmentOccasional physical demonstration of machines (wood/engineering machines) to members of staff and students, where this requires the application of acquired skillsConstruct, maintain, fault find, repair and service all marine equipment where necessary and arrange repair in liaison with the Head of CurriculumAssist in the development of new equipment and workshop activitiesResponsibilities as our Senior Technician will include:

Appropriate qualification in MarineEngineering – Level 3 or equivalentAble to manage learners and learning effectivelyWorking knowledge of the sector either on board a ship or in a shipyard/boatyardAble to develop effective learning resources to support the deliveryKnowledge and understanding of current developments in a relevant curriculum area. Knowledge of appropriate health and safety requirementsEffective communication skillsAn effective team playerEvidence of working towards and achieving personal targetsGood administrative and organisational skillsAble to meet tight deadlinesAble to manage pressure and a range of demandsSupportive and positive approach to all teaching areaEnergetic and enthusiasticThe ability to use Information Learning Technology and other IT applicationsBenefits:
