We are currently recruiting a Senior Technician to join our Layered Reality team at The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience (www.thewaroftheworldsimmersive.com). This is a layered reality multi-sensory experience set across a vast 22,000 sq/ft, combining music, immersive theatre, virtual reality, motion simulators and 5D effects.

Position Summary

The Senior Technician is a vital role to ensure we deliver this cutting-edge experience at the optimal level to all guests. As a Senior Technician, you will serve as a core member of the technical department, responsible for maintaining exceptional standards across all show systems and helping to lead day-to-day technical operations. You’ll bring a strong working knowledge across lighting, sound, motion simulators, VR systems, and show control, and will support both live show operation and off-show maintenance periods. This role requires someone confident in their technical ability, calm under pressure, and proactive in raising standards and leading by example.You’ll work closely with the Deputy Technical Manager and Technical Manager to ensure that all technical systems perform reliably and that safety, efficiency, and quality remain consistently high.

Scope & Responsibilities

Take the lead on day-to-day technical operations and maintenance, ensuring all systems are functioning to the highest standard.

Provide hands-on support across all major technical disciplines including - Lighting: control systems, rig maintenance, fixture troubleshooting. Audio: signal flow, speaker systems, QLab and playback, VR systems: headset maintenance, tracking calibration, hardware optimisation, Motion simulators: actuator systems, firmware, safety checks

Operate or assist with QLab and master show control systems during live performances as required.

Act as a senior point of contact on shift for technical queries, minor incidents, or escalations.

Lead by example and support System, VR and Maintenance technicians and the wider team, upholding high standards of performance, safety, and presentation.

Assist in scheduling and conducting regular preventative maintenance.

Contribute to accurate reporting and logging of technical issues, fixes, and improvements.

Liaise with the Deputy Technical Manager and Technical Manager regarding ongoing technical improvements, repeat faults, or upgrade opportunities.

Solid hands-on experience in technical theatre, immersive events, or themed entertainment.
Comprehensive knowledge in at least three of the following areas: Lighting systems and DMX control, Dante, Sound systems and playback, Motion simulation or automation systems, VR/PC-based interactive systems, Pyrotechnics
Experience operating QLab and/or other cue-based show control platforms.
Previous experience in a senior or lead technician role preferred.
