United Kingdom (Remote)

Senior Technical Writer

About Grafana Labs:

There are more than 700,000 active installations of Grafana around the globe, monitoring everything from beehives to climate change in the Alps. The instantly recognizable dashboards have been spotted everywhere from a SpaceX launch and Minecraft HQ to Wimbledon and the Tour de France. Grafana Labs also helps companies including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay manage their observability strategies with full-stack offerings that can be run fully managed with Grafana Cloud, or self-managed with Grafana Enterprise Stack. The Grafana stack has grown to include more open-source projects, including Grafana Loki (for logs), Grafana Tempo (for traces), and Grafana Mimir (for metrics).

Description of Duties:

We are looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation and guides for Grafana Labs. You will collaborate with engineers, developer advocates, support engineers, product managers, and the Grafana technical writing team to produce a variety of tailored content to ensure our products are easy to learn and rapidly adopted.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with other technical writers, product managers, and internal stakeholders to understand the product and documentation needs.
  2. Plan, research, develop, and write high-quality content tailored to Grafana customers.
  3. Interview developers and engineers to gain knowledge of the software and its context.
  4. Write content for beginners, such as examples and getting started guides.
  5. Collaborate with documentation managers, developer advocates, and other writers to improve existing documentation and the docs site, maintaining a consistent voice and organization, and making information easy to find.

Requirements:

  • Experience using or documenting enterprise and/or cloud software for a developer audience.
  • Experience working with Git and GitHub.
  • Experience working remotely.
  • Experience with software testing services and tools.
  • Experience working in a docs-as-code environment.

Experience with observability solutions or open source communities is a plus.

What you’ll bring to the role:

You’re passionate about technically accurate content, adept at managing multiple projects, and enjoy collaborative and independent work. You have a well-used copy of “The Elements of Style”.

In the UK, the base salary range is £70,075 - £84,090, with actual compensation varying based on experience and skills. Benefits include equity, bonuses, and others listed on our careers page.

*Compensation ranges are country-specific. If applying from a different location, the recruiter will discuss your specific pay range and benefits.

Additional Information:

Grafana Labs has over 20 million users worldwide, monitoring everything from beehives to climate change. Our dashboards have been seen at NASA launches, Minecraft HQ, Wimbledon, and the Tour de France. We support over 3,000 companies, including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay, with our Grafana LGTM Stack—either fully managed via Grafana Cloud or self-managed with Grafana Enterprise Stack, which includes scalable metrics (Grafana Mimir), logs (Grafana Loki), and traces (Grafana Tempo).
