Senior Technical Support Engineer

Salary: £55000 - £65000 + Excellent Benefits

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucester – Hybrid

Clearance Required: You are required to hold an eDV level security clearance

We're working with a global leader in Cyber & Intelligence who are actively seeking a Senior Support Engineer to join their dynamic and fast-paced operations team. This is a unique opportunity to work on secure platforms used by high-profile government and defence clients, where your technical expertise will truly make a difference.

Role Overview

As a Senior Support Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimising secure, large-scale infrastructure. From proactive system monitoring to incident resolution and collaboration with engineering teams, you’ll ensure the seamless performance and security of essential systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for complex, live systems
  • Monitor critical infrastructure to ensure optimal uptime and reliability
  • Troubleshoot issues across Linux servers, applications, and cloud environments
  • Work closely with development teams to resolve incidents quickly and efficiently Identify and mitigate technical risks
  • Maintain clear documentation of incidents and solutions
  • Implement DevOps and SRE best practices to drive system performance

Skills / Knowledge

You will have exposure to one of more of the following.

  • Strong experience supporting live, mission-critical environments
  • Deep knowledge of Linux server administration
  • Skilled in log analysis using tools like Splunk or ELK stack
  • Hands-on with tools and platforms such as: Apache NiFi, MinIO, AWS S3
  • Java & Python applications (deployment, patching, support)
  • Containerisation and deployment technologies such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and prioritisation skills

Security Clearance

You are required to hold an eDV level security clearance
