Senior Technical Safety Engineer – Hybrid – Hampshire (UK)

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy working across energy transition projects, including carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables, onshore and offshore oil & gas.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work on high-impact energy projects while benefiting from a flexible hybrid working model.

Location
Hampshire, UK – Hybrid working available (approx. 60% remote)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical safety studies, engineering analyses, and calculations in line with company standards and international codes

  • Deliver high-quality Technical Safety outputs including:

    • Fire and Gas detection system design

    • Active and passive fire protection systems

    • Hazardous area classification

    • Risk assessments (QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA, flare and vent studies)

    • HSE philosophies

    • RAM (Reliability, Availability & Maintainability) studies

  • Lead or support HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL assessments

  • Supervise junior engineers and ensure project schedules and quality standards are maintained

  • Contribute to the development of internal technical standards and procedures

  • Assist in preparing manhour estimates and work plans for proposals and projects

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and industry practices

  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to support safe and efficient project execution

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (Chemical, Process, or relevant discipline)

  • Significant experience in Technical Safety Engineering within onshore and offshore Oil & Gas projects

  • Proven experience working through all phases of projects (Concept, FEED, Detail Design)

  • Strong working knowledge of UK and international safety and design standards

  • Experience in risk assessment methodologies and safety design tools

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative mindset
