Job description

We're embedding a data squad within the Lending business - the largest and most complex part of the bank.

This is a new opportunity to establish a deeply embedded, cross-functional team that builds and owns data products specific to the lending domain. As a Senior Technical Product Manager , you'll work across the lending lifecycle to design and deliver data capabilities that support origination, portfolio management, monitoring, and credit MI.

This role is at the heart of the bank's transformation to product-led squads and data-driven decision making, offering a significant opportunity to shape how lending teams operate and scale through better data.

You will

    • Lead the development of data products that support operational reporting, portfolio insights, and credit MI within the Lending domain
    • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across lending, product and operations to identify high-value opportunities for data-driven solutions
    • Prioritise and deliver data features incrementally, balancing short-term impact with longer-term platform scalability
    • Champion best practices around data governance, data capture, and structured design in collaboration with engineering and analytics teams

The role
    • Translate lending-specific business requirements into a clear technical product vision and data roadmap
    • Manage the backlog and delivery of data products that serve lending workflows and reporting requirements
    • Collaborate with product squads, data engineers, analysts and credit teams to ensure successful delivery of accurate and reliable data solutions
    • Manage upstream and downstream dependencies across various finance and operational systems
    • Be the key knowledge holder and communicator of documentation related to data models, data lineage and data product design in the lending space

You may be a good fit for this role if you
    • Are passionate about the potential for extracting business and commercial value from data
    • Have experience owning cross-functional, technical projects from conception to completion
    • Are an open and natural communicator with both technical and commercial teams
    • Thrive on transforming the data landscape and coaching others on best practice
    • Have a strong commercial acumen backed by a solid technical understanding
    • Have an understanding of debt finance

Technology
    • Working experience in building analytics solutions
    • It would be helpful but is not required to have experience in:
    • data architecture
    • data engineering
    • data visualisation
    • building data pipelines
    • analytics/statistics/modelling
    • SQL/Python (although any programming experience is a bonus)
    • GCP (experience within any cloud native environments and/or DevOps is great)

What makes working here better
    • This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the team, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office to foster hands-on collaboration and innovation.
    • Work-life balance - 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) each year, and enhanced family leave allowances.
    • Competitive salary & equity - We want people to have a serious stake in the business.
    • Good kit - Your choice of the best laptop, running macOS or Ubuntu.
    • Team socials - The opportunity to get to know each other outside of work.
    • Company socials - A chance to catch up and meet new colleagues weekly over informal office breakfasts and dinners on OakNorth - or at our free barista bar every day.
    • Commuter support - We offer the cycle to work and EV scheme.
