Job summary

AXA is seeking a Senior Technical Pricing Analyst to build and evolve risk models across multiple portfolios. You will apply traditional and emerging data science techniques to improve pricing predictiveness and lead pricing projects tied to risk mix, claims trends and inflation.

The role demands strong English communication and collaboration with stakeholders, with hybrid work patterns balancing office and home time.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience with claims data and modelling techniques in the insurance industry.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one language (e.g. Python).
  • Experience using Radar software or Earnix.
  • Databricks and Power BI experience would be an advantage.
  • Higher education in mathematics or numerical discipline (2:1+).
  • Knowledge of actuarial techniques (reserving).
  • Outstanding communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
  • Delivery-focused with continuous improvement mindset.
  • Self-motivated with collaborative approach amid large organisations.

Job description

With the Reserving and Claims Analytics teams. As a Senior, you'll be acting as a role model to junior colleagues and helping to establish and maintain best practice.

Key responsibilities
  • Build, maintain and enhance pricing risk models using latest data science techniques including GBM's, in line with agreed timelines.
  • Lead analysis of risk mix, claims trends, inflation and new treatment costs to facilitate alignment with the Reserving and Claims Analytics teams.
  • Contribute to documentation for taking models for approval pre-deployment.
  • Report on agreed model performance KPI's at appropriate frequency.
  • Ensure modelling data meets required quality criteria, highlighting gaps and proposing solutions.
  • Test agreed new data sources including internal customer data and external data, factors and feature engineering to enhance model predictiveness.
  • Support more junior analysts in model building, analysis and data work.
Work arrangements

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Your skills & experience
  • Significant experience working with claims data and applying appropriate modelling techniques, gained within the insurance industry.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one language, e.g. Python.
  • Experience using Radar software or other similar tools, e.g. Earnix.
  • Experience of Databricks and Power BI would be an advantage.
  • Higher education (equivalent grades of 2:1 or higher) in a mathematics or other numerical discipline.
  • Knowledge of actuarial techniques, e.g. reserving.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to grasp and explain a range of technical concepts to all business stakeholders.
  • Solution focused, with a strong focus on delivery, and desire for continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude, valuing the contribution of others and understanding the need for collaboration.
  • Awareness of the regulatory environment in which the business operates and understanding of the dynamics of large organisations.
