Kirklees Council in the Place directorate, Highways & Streetscene, is seeking a permanent Team Leader to manage minor traffic schemes and lead junior officers in a busy, frontline traffic environment.
Hybrid working is offered with a salary range of £29,540–£37,280 plus a Market Rate Supplement of £2,000, reflecting the role's responsibilities in improving parking and congestion across Kirklees. The team collaborates with local councillors and the public to make safe, effective highway movements.

Would you like to make a difference to parking and congestion on our roads and around schools: Would you enjoy a varied role where you would focus on the delivery of community schemes to improve parking and congestion throughout Kirklees? Are you a problem solver and have excellent knowledge of electronic systems? Then we have the perfect role for you!
Join our Team in Community Projects and you’ll be working in a team responsible for the preparation and processing of Traffic Regulation Orders to support the development of safe and effective traffic movements around the district. We work in a busy environment where no day’s the same. We develop, process, and deliver many different highway safety initiatives throughout Kirklees. We work closely with local councillors and members of the public as well as a number of other teams and external bodies to improve the safety of all road users including our most vulnerable users

“Having recently joined the team, I am currently training in my new role which involves allocating and over-seeing the work and progress of minor schemes for the technical officer as well as investigating and replying to complaints about parking. I am also starting to develop highway safety schemes to improve road safety within Kirklees and I enjoy meeting people on site to discuss their concerns; it is very rewarding when you can come up with ways of helping them and make a difference to their lives. The team are very friendly and supportive, and I am enjoying working alongside them.”
