Senior Technical Manager – Residential Developer - Essex

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager ready to step into a senior role with one of the UK’s most successful housebuilders. Covering a wide portfolio of live and upcoming sites across Essex, you’ll take ownership of the technical delivery from land acquisition through to site completion, working closely with land, planning, commercial, and construction teams to ensure each development runs smoothly and efficiently.

The Role:

As Senior Technical Manager, you’ll lead a team of internal and external consultants, managing the design and technical strategy across multiple sites. Your focus will be on driving efficient, compliant, and commercially viable design solutions that align with programme deadlines and support high-quality site delivery. This is a key role for someone who enjoys autonomy, has a deep understanding of residential design and engineering, and can coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the technical delivery of multiple residential schemes across the region, taking full ownership of architectural and engineering design from pre-planning through to site handover, ensuring all technical information is accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant regulations.
2. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external consultants to develop efficient and cost-effective design solutions, ensuring buildability, programme alignment, and seamless integration with commercial and construction objectives.
3. Take a proactive role in resolving technical challenges as they arise, acting as the go-to point of contact for site teams, and providing clear and pragmatic solutions to keep projects on track.
4. Manage consultant appointments and technical budgets, ensuring that work is delivered to the required standard while maintaining a strong focus on deadlines, commercial viability, and value engineering opportunities.
5. Support the wider business with technical input on land appraisals, planning strategies, and tender documentation, contributing to successful land bids and smooth project mobilisation.
