Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking a Senior Technical Lead to own key technology domains and migration workstreams on a major financial services platform modernisation programme, migrating a global VMware estate to OpenShift. This hands-on delivery role combines deep infrastructure knowledge with delivery leadership, owning outcomes and coordinating across engineering, architecture, operations and programme teams.

You’ll stay hands-on while guiding senior engineers and executives, driving platform

Job description

We're looking for experienced Senior Technical Leads to own key technology domains and migration workstreams on a major financial services platform modernisation programme, migrating a global VMware estate of 250,000+ VMs to OpenShift.

This is a hands-on delivery role, not a purely advisory one. You'll combine deep technical infrastructure knowledge with delivery leadership, owning outcomes, resolving complex technical challenges, and coordinating across engineering, architecture, operations and programme teams.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a defined technology domain or migration workstream


• Own technical direction, decisions and delivery outcomes


• Drive migration and platform modernisation activity through to completion


• Identify and remove technical blockers, risks and dependencies


• Stay hands-on while providing technical leadership


• Represent your workstream in governance and technical review forums


• Engage confidently with senior engineers, architects and executive stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

• Strong enterprise infrastructure/server technical knowledge


• Deep experience with large-scale virtualised environments, particularly VMware/vSphere


• Track record leading major migration or platform modernisation workstreams


• Experience owning delivery outcomes, not just advising on them


• Ability to operate independently in large, complex enterprise environments


• Credibility with senior engineers, architects and executive stakeholders


• Comfortable challenging technical decisions and leading experienced engineering teams

Relevant tech: VMware vSphere, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, platform engineering, compute/x86, networking, storage.
