Job summary

Creation is seeking a hands-on Technical Design Lead to guide a growing team, delivering high-quality event and fabrication design output and setting industry-leading standards. The role requires bridging creative design with practical manufacture, and mentoring designers while driving process improvements across the department.

The successful candidate will lead technical design from concept through build, ensure buildability, safety and cost efficiency, and support site delivery and on-site

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Technical Design experience with complex projects.
• Exceptional drawing and detailing ability for manufacture and site delivery.
• Strong knowledge of cabinetry, timber construction, metalwork and mixed materials.
• Proficiency in 3D modelling and 2D technical drawing; manufacturing standards understood.
• Experience mentoring designers and improving standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of complex experiential and live event projects.
• Operate confidently from high-level event, site and spatial design through to detailed fabrication design; develop innovative solutions.
• Lead, mentor and support the Technical Design team day-to-day with clear direction.
• Review and develop the work of other Technical Designers with consistent high standards.
• Define and document ways of working within the department, driving drawing quality and standards.
• Own technical design approvals across connected project streams.
• Advise on site design, materials, construction methods, tolerances and fabrication methodologies.
• Oversee technical design through fabrication and on-site delivery; resolve queries.
