We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of fabricated parts and assemblies, manage work packages, and oversee the configuration of each numbered part. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, proficiency in SolidWorks, and effective leadership of small teams. Excellent communication skills are essential, as this role involves engaging with individuals at all levels across the company. This position is suited for a dynamic, technically minded individual ready to advance into management.

Key Tasks:

1. Lead the design and development of fabricated parts to be manufactured by our in-house fabrications team.
2. Manage and oversee work packages, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
3. Develop and maintain product configurations, ensuring they meet industry standards and client requirements.
4. Utilise SolidWorks to create detailed designs and technical drawings.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.
6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
7. Conduct design reviews and implement improvements based on feedback.
8. Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate best practices into design processes.
9. Report to the Technical Manager daily, with regular updates to the Engineering Director and board.
10. Convey and present ideas and designs effectively to management using various media, including sketches, line drawings, solid models, and PowerPoint.
11. Ensure designs are cost-effective and optimized for manufacturing processes.
12. Support fabrication and manufacturing of products in steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing and developing mechanical systems and components.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and relevant design software.
• Strong project management skills with experience managing work packages.
• Excellent understanding of product configurations and industry standards.
• Ability to lead and mentor small teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dynamic, enthusiastic, with effective presentation skills using various media.
• Understanding of cost-effective manufacturing and design for manufacture principles.
