Job Description:

Senior Technical Claims Handler (Large Loss) - Remote

Overview:

As a Senior Technical Claims Handler within the Large Loss Team, you will proactively manage a portfolio of motor claims, mainly high-value bodily injury claims with reserves exceeding £500,000.

You will serve as a central referral point for technical issues, advising on strategy, tactics, and key developments, and assist in targeted reviews to ensure best practices and outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage claims caseload according to group policies, procedures, and service levels.
  • Control claim costs through effective negotiation and liability assessment.
  • Maintain accurate reserves and good file discipline, review cases regularly, and handle cases timely.
  • Attend trials and conferences with counsel when appropriate.
  • Engage with reinsurers and adhere to large loss procedures.
  • Operate within authority limits and develop effective relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including FCA and GDPR.
  • Respond promptly to communications via phone, email, and letter.
  • Act as a technical referral point within the team and the business.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of personal injury claims, especially serious injuries.
  • Technical expertise in discount rates, care claims, and related heads of claim.
  • Good understanding of medical disciplines involved in personal injury investigations.
