Job summary

Boon Brown is seeking a Senior Technical Architect/Technician/Technologist to join our RIBA Chartered practice in Yeovil or London on a permanent basis. You will lead technical design across residential and commercial projects, coordinating teams and engaging clients throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong experience with AutoCAD/Revit/BIM, knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Act, and an ability to manage design delivery, documentation, planning and site

Qualifications

• Experience delivering residential projects including housing developments and apartment schemes; healthcare/industrial experience beneficial.
• Strong construction knowledge with ability to produce technical details and specifications.
• RIBA qualification or CIAT with 5+ years experience (or 8+ years as Senior Technician).
• Familiar with Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across projects and coordinate teams of architects, technicians and technologists.
• Produce technical design information for delivery: specifications, tender packages and detailed construction drawings (RIBA 4-7).
• Lead and attend meetings with clients, consultants and contractors; set agendas and write minutes.
• Develop project programmes and manage design development to QA procedures.
• Carry out CDM duties and, where appropriate, Principal Designer duties.
• Support site inspections and monitor construction works for compliance and quality.
• Assist with design proposals for planning applications (RIBA 0-3) and maintain office technical standards.

Senior Technical Architect/ Technician or Technologist

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and diligent Senior Technical Architect / Senior Technician / Senior Technologist to join our RIBA Chartered practice in Yeovil or London offices on a permanent basis. As part of this role, you will get a chance to work on a variety of projects types and scales within our residential and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership across projects.
• Production of all technical design information required for project delivery including specifications, tender packages, and detailed construction drawings (RIBA 4-7)
• Opportunities to lead and coordinate project teams of architects, assistants, technicians and technologists, depending on project requirements.
• Actively engage with Clients, Consultants, Contractors, and other construction professionals. Present works, chair meetings including agenda setting and minute writing.
• Producing and delivering project programmes.
• Contract administration / employers agent duties, including inspection of construction works on site.
• Opportunity for the creation and development of design proposals including preparation of designs for planning applications (RIBA 0-3)
• Lead and maintain high technical standards across projects, undertaking technical reviews and supporting quality assurance procedures.
• Carry out Designer CDM duties.
• Undertake Designer (and where appropriate, Principal Designer) duties in accordance with the Building Safety Act.
• Attend and help with site appraisals, surveys, client meetings and site inspections.
• Being part of a cohesive team, mentoring and supporting your colleagues, to grow and learn together.
• Understanding and able to manage the commercial aspects of the project, including fee preparation, resourcing, and warranties.

Requirements

• Have strong experience delivering residential projects including housing developments, apartment schemes and complex technical packages. Experience in healthcare and industrial would also be advantageous.
• Be highly motivated, organised with excellent communication skills.
• RIBA Qualified Architect with at least 5 years experience or Chartered Technologist (CIAT) with at least 5 years experience, or with 8+ years experience as a Senior Technician.
• Have a strong construction knowledge with ability to produce technical details and specifications.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of office technical standards, specifications and best practice guidance.
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements
• Have at least 5 years UK office based, post qualification experience.
• Be skilled in the use of AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with BIM based project delivery would be advantageous but not essential.
