Overview:

Provides technical leadership within Software Engineering, setting the direction for solutioning and ensuring that complex IT solutions align with overarching business objectives and long-term strategy. Prioritises the backlog for the technical architecture team and ensures that business priorities are met.

Accountabilities:

  • Directs the design and implementation of engineering solutions across Software Engineering, considering factors like scalability, performance, and energy efficiency.
  • Recognised authority accountable for the definition of technical architecture.
  • Leads and guides the leadership team within Software Engineering for solution design.
  • Sets principles and guardrails for technical architecture and ensures compliance.
  • Supervises lifecycle management for hardware systems, from design to disposal.
  • Prioritises the backlog for the technical architecture team, aligning with business demand and capacity.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to programme teams, ensuring solutions follow architectural blueprints.
  • Directs the reuse of technologies and features across Arqiva’s products and platforms.
  • Negotiates with the Head of Software Engineering to ensure appropriate technology use.
  • Collaborates with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align solutions with goals.
  • Models Arqiva’s culture, builds respect, sets high-performance standards, and develops team skills.
  • Fosters cross-functional understanding and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Aligns technical architecture with enterprise architecture to ensure data strategies support the overall vision.

Skills:

  • Solution Architecture: Designing end-to-end technical solutions integrating systems, services, and technologies.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, cloud best practices, and software development standards.
  • Virtualisation & Cloud Computing: Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Leadership skills including influencing, decision-making, and adaptability.
