Job summary

GCA in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Technical Architect to own and evolve the enterprise-wide DDaT technical strategy. You will lead a unified architecture team, defining scalable, secure systems and driving the digital transformation across public services.

You will mentor engineers, balance speed, cost and quality, review high-level designs, and ensure alignment with national strategy while collaborating with business architecture and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Enterprise Architecture Governance: define and enforce standards to manage technical debt and ensure system integrity.
• Secure & scalable design: lead in secure-by-design, high-volume platforms and scalable architectures.
• Strategic technical alignment: translate policy/strategy into concrete technical blueprints and articulate risks.
• Complex integration & trade-offs: navigate trade-offs and define integration strategy for enterprise systems.
• Leadership: mentor and coach technical teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own the Technical Vision: define the 'how' for strategic change and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
• Lead Technical Governance: implement standards across projects, including Secure by Design.
• Mentor and Guide Teams: provide technical leadership and guidance on complex design decisions.
• Manage Architectural Risk: identify technical debt and articulate risks early in investments.
• Ensure System Integrity: ensure High-Level Designs are scalable, secure and fit within CCS ecosystem.
• Drive Strategic Alignment: translate strategic goals into practical, resilient blueprints.
• Review Supplier Capability: assess technical viability and integration methods proposed by market suppliers.
• Document Architecture: produce clear architectural documentation for senior leadership.
