Job summary

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is seeking an experienced Technical Architect or Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of digital services. You will work with software engineering teams, product managers, security specialists, and operations to design secure, reliable, and maintainable services supporting the CAA's regulatory duties.

The role blends architecture, engineering, and delivery, with roughly 70% focused on architecture and 30% hands‑on development;

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and delivering enterprise cloud/web apps.
• Able to communicate complex tech clearly to mixed audiences.
• Experience with React/Next.js and server-side rendering.
• Proficient with C#/.NET backend design and APIs.
• Azure platform experience including security, monitoring, and governance.
• Familiar with CI/CD, automated testing, and live service operation.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain architecture principles across multiple digital services.
• Produce designs and guidance for secure, resilient, and maintainable services.
• Lead architecture studies and validate approaches with prototypes when needed.
• Review designs and code with teams to improve consistency and quality.
