Job summary

A local educational institution in Whitehaven seeks a Senior Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs. The ideal candidate should possess strong literacy and numeracy skills and an NVQ 3 qualification. This is a part-time, term-time only position with a salary of £19,235 - £20,502 based on actual hours worked.

Overview

SENIOR TEACHING ASSISTANT (STA) – Required November 2025

NJC Scale 4 £26,403 - £28,142 per annum pro rata. Part time, term time only permanent contract. 30 hours and 5 minutes per week over 5 days (actual salary £19,235 - £20,502 based on 46.6 weeks).

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support in classes for students with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A relevant NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Appropriate experience as a Teaching Assistant would be preferred.
