Compass Community Schools seeks a teacher to deliver English and/or Maths to GCSE level within a trauma-informed, child-centred environment in Milton Keynes. The role emphasises relationships, high aspirations and positive student outcomes, with a focus on building skills and confidence across cohorts.
Successful candidates will engage with curriculum development, extracurricular activities and professional training to support students with SEMH and SEND needs.
Our children come from a wide range of backgrounds but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many also have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
The work we do is varied and challenging and, as a trauma and attachment-informed organisation, all staff receive extensive therapeutic training and support.
Our child-centred approach brings together education and therapy professionals, parents and carers, local authority teams and students to secure positive outcomes.
At Compass Schools, we are teachers of children before teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building positive relationships and motivating students to achieve their potential.
We are seeking a Teacher with the ability and willingness to teach English and/or Maths to GCSE level. We maintain high aspirations for every child, regardless of their starting point or learning journey, and recognise the importance of qualifications in creating future opportunities.
Compass Community School teachers inspire curiosity, make learning relevant and create engaging opportunities that challenge students at every level. Whether pupils are developing core skills or extending a particular talent, we help them make progress and succeed.
Our children require exceptional teachers who can manage complex and challenging behaviours. Successful candidates will understand the importance of communication, consistency, flexibility and a non-judgemental approach.
We want our teachers to play an active role in shaping school life, improving outcomes and advocating for every child. Staff are encouraged to contribute to curriculum development and extracurricular opportunities, bringing their own interests, skills and passions to the role.
At Compass, our strength comes from the values we live by every day: Integrity, Care and Courage. These values are reflected in the actions taken to support children, families and colleagues.
The Compass Values Awards recognise and celebrate those who demonstrate these values across our community and make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Compass Community Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.
Successful applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS Check or Enhanced Check for Regulated Activity through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Safer recruitment procedures, including social media screening, will also apply.
All school-based staff are responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Staff must be familiar with the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and work in accordance with it at all times.
Compass is an equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We believe a workforce with varied backgrounds, perspectives and experiences strengthens our ability to support children and young people and achieve outstanding outcomes.
