Numero Recruitment, the leading recruiter for tax jobs in the South East, is currently working with one of the UK’s fastest-growing accountancy practices that are keen to secure the services of a Senior Tax Manager.

The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for delivering tax advisory services to a varied portfolio of clients. You would work with the Regional Tax Partner to lead the planning and delivery of tax advisory services in conjunction with other Partners within the Office. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of tax advice, planning services, and other specialist assignments, ensuring they are scoped and delivered within budget. The work is varied and includes planning and advisory work for HNWIs, covering Capital Gains Tax, Income Tax, Inheritance Tax, Trusts, and Estates.

The Role:

  • Support the Regional Tax Partner in delivering tax advisory services across the North Thames region.
  • Assist in leading the planning and delivery of tax advisory services with the Regional Tax Partner and Office Partners.
  • Develop strong client relationships through assignments and regular contact, including attending client meetings as necessary.
  • Undertake specialist assignments, coordinating relevant input to meet client needs, compliance standards, and budgets.
  • Resolve tax issues and compile comprehensive tax files.
  • Manage the office tax team by providing feedback, delegating assignments, and supporting team development to improve work quality and delivery.
  • Take ownership of specialist assignments for the Office and referred matters from the North Thames region.
  • Identify additional support or services suitable for clients and introduce other specialists when needed.
  • Provide business tax advisory and tax planning services.
  • Offer advice on tax issues, including liaising with HM Revenue & Customs for clearances.
  • Assist colleagues with tax queries within the team and wider firm.
  • Develop client relationships to become the primary contact for queries.
  • Participate in meeting new clients and expanding the firm’s tax services.
  • Review current tax topics and advise appropriate clients.
  • Supervise, delegate, monitor, and review the work of junior staff.
  • Ensure all deadlines are met promptly for personal and team work.
  • Prepare fee quotes for client work.
  • Monitor time against budgets or fixed fee agreements.
  • Participate in team supervision, training, and development activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role within a practice environment, handling complex assignments.
  • CTA qualification, possibly ACA or equivalent.
  • Experience in supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff.
  • Strong all-round tax background.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio effectively and meet client expectations.
  • Team player with good relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Effective workload and time management skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving ability, leveraging experience and knowledge.
  • Capability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines.
