Job summary

Maitland Kabir in London seeks a Qualified Senior Tax Adviser to join a close-knit team handling high-value UK tax advisory and contentious work. You will research complex tax issues, draft detailed reports, and advise on residence, domicile, trusts, and corporate tax matters.

The role offers exposure to sophisticated tax issues for high-net-worth individuals and owner-managed businesses, working with experienced counsel in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• CTA qualification with at least three years' post-qualification tax advisory experience.
• Experience in a professional services environment (accountancy, law, wealth management, trusts).
• Strong academic background including degree at 2:1 level or above.
• Experience preparing detailed tax advisory reports and synthesising research into conclusions.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of English tax concepts: contracts, trusts, partnerships, companies, land law.
• Ability to manage demanding assignments under time pressure. Full STEP membership in England and Wales is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake independent research into complex UK tax issues using online databases and resources.
• Draft detailed tax advisory reports with clear, practical advice.
• Work on private client matters including residence, domicile, trusts, and UK property investments.
• Advise on corporation tax and VAT for owner-managed businesses and investment entities.
• Engage in contentious tax work involving HMRC enquiries, penalties and appeals.
• Collaborate with tax counsel and colleagues to deliver complex advisory assignments under time pressure.
• Interact directly with clients and advisers, including solicitors and wealth managers.
