Job summary

Edgewing is hiring 3x Systems Engineers (Systems / Senior / Principal) to support sensitive MOD and aerospace programmes in Reading. Active SC clearance is essential, alongside sole UK nationality.

On-site work in Reading is required, with hybrid/custom working where appropriate. You will design, build and run secure, resilient hybrid infrastructure (Azure + on‑prem), lead Azure services, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/Bicep/ARM/Ansible.

Qualifications

• Active SC clearance and sole UK nationality.
• 5+ years in infrastructure/cloud/platform engineering.
• Strong Azure and hybrid environment experience.
• Excellent stakeholder comms in regulated/secure environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and run secure, resilient hybrid infrastructure (Azure + on-prem).
• Lead/support Azure services, Windows & Linux estate, virtualisation, storage and networking.
• Deploy and operate Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code & automation (Terraform/Bicep/ARM/Ansible; PowerShell/Bash/Python).
• Improve monitoring, performance, DR/BCP, and security-by-design controls.
• Troubleshoot complex incidents and mentor engineers (Senior/Principal levels).

Senior / Principal / Systems Engineer – Secure Digital Platform (SDP) | SC Cleared | Reading (Hybrid)

Edgewing is hiring 3x Systems Engineers (Systems / Senior / Principal) to support sensitive MOD & aerospace programmes. Active SC clearance is essential, alongside sole UK nationality. On-site work in Reading required, with hybrid/custom working where appropriate. Contract is inside IR35 and expected to run 6+ months.

What you’ll do

• Design, build and run secure, resilient hybrid infrastructure (Azure + on-prem)
• Lead/support Azure services, Windows & Linux estate, virtualisation, storage and networking
• Deploy and operate Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift platforms
• Drive Infrastructure as Code & automation (e.g., Terraform/Bicep/ARM/Ansible; PowerShell/Bash/Python)
• Improve monitoring, performance, DR/BCP, and security-by-design controls
• Troubleshoot complex incidents and mentor engineers (Senior/Principal levels)

What we’re looking for

• MOD / Defence Digital / UK aerospace architecture or engineering experience
• 5+ years in infrastructure/cloud/platform engineering (Senior/Principal)
• Strong Azure and hybrid environment experience
• Excellent stakeholder comms in regulated/secure environments

Nice to have:

• Azure certs, CKA, OpenShift/Red Hat, VMware VCP, ITIL.
