Job summary

Edgewing is seeking Senior / Principal / Systems Engineers to join a Secure Digital Platform (SDP) for sensitive MOD & aerospace programmes. Active SC clearance is essential; on-site Reading with hybrid options. Contract inside IR35, initially 6+ months.

Roles include designing, building and operating secure hybrid infrastructure (Azure + on‑prem), leading Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms, and implementing IaC via Terraform/Bicep/ARM/Ansible. Strong stakeholder comms required.

Qualifications

• MOD/Defence Digital/UK aerospace experience
• 5+ years in infrastructure/cloud/platform engineering
• Container platform experience
• Excellent stakeholder communications

Responsibilities

• Design, build and run secure, resilient hybrid infrastructure (Azure + on-prem)
• Lead/support Azure services, Windows & Linux estate, virtualization, storage and networking
• Deploy and operate Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift platforms
• Drive Infrastructure as Code & automation (Terraform/Bicep/ARM/Ansible; PowerShell/Bash/Python)
• Improve monitoring, performance, DR/BCP, and security-by-design controls
• Troubleshoot complex incidents and mentor engineers (Senior/Principal levels)
