Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced electrical/Smart Grid professional to act as a technical authority on Advanced Energy Management Systems projects in the UK. You will define standards, craft robust solution designs, and guide delivery with a focus on technical excellence and operational practicality.

The role requires hands-on Smart Grid experience, ADMS/SCADA knowledge, and strong stakeholder engagement to ensure on-time, on-budget outcomes while managing risks and supplier relationships.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical, electronic, or telecommunication engineering, or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Alternatively, HND/HNC qualification with at least five years of post-training experience in an engineering or project management role within a utility business.
  • In-depth experience with Smart Grid applications or real-time control system development.
  • Working knowledge of Smart Grid Electrical Control Systems and ADMS or SCADA technologies, or Power Systems Engineering.
  • Proven track record of design and delivery balancing technical and commercial considerations.
  • Numerical articulation and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Ability to explain sophisticated technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to consult across the business, resolve differences, and present unified perspectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with external vendors, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage technical, financial, and project delivery risks.
  • Project management skills desirable.
  • Experience managing teams desirable.
  • Ability to review and evaluate third-party proposals.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at business and technical levels.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across Iberdrola globally.
  • Valid driving licence essential.
  • Ability to travel to fulfill duties and obligations.
  • Compliance with applicable UK immigration requirements to legally work in the country of the vacancy.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Smart Grid Operations teams covering Telecoms, Infrastructure, and Real Time Systems
  • Assist with systems design activities and ensure compliance with Group standards
  • Define streamlined processes for efficient project delivery
  • Inform business case development, including costs, benefits, and delivery approaches
  • Provide technical assistance throughout project delivery
  • Maintain clear stakeholder communication
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships
  • Oversee service delivery for on-time, on-budget performance
  • Contribute technical input to architectural planning
  • Ensure plans and budgets reflect required investment
  • Evaluate and recommend new system solutions and technologies
  • Plan for emerging customer needs and new electrical-applications infrastructure
