Tetra Tech Europe is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer II to design, optimize, and govern critical infrastructure across datacentre, cloud, and hybrid environments. The successful candidate will lead complex projects, ensuring high availability and reliability of IT services.
This role offers a hybrid working environment with flexible remote options. Ideal candidates should have substantial experience in infrastructure engineering and a degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with skills in technologies such as PowerShell, VMware, and cloud solutions.
As Senior Systems Engineer II, you will play a pivotal role in designing, optimising and governing critical infrastructure across datacentre, cloud and hybrid environments. You will help define technical direction, improve operational maturity, and ensure platforms remain secure, reliable and cost-effective. This role combines strategic oversight with deep technical delivery, supporting infrastructure architecture, automation, incident response, compliance, documentation, operational handover and project execution.
You will influence the stability, performance and future shape of core IT services. Working closely with technical teams, vendors and stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to modernise systems, reduce manual effort, strengthen governance and improve service resilience. Your expertise will help ensure infrastructure decisions are aligned to business priorities, security expectations, operational standards and long-term value.
You will bring substantial senior‑level experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering or a similar technical role, ideally supported by a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
The position is based on a hybrid model, mainly working from home but with monthly visits to an office or fully hybrid if preferred. Our datacentre is in Slough and attendance in the centre will be required (likely monthly). Remote and flexible working may be available depending on location and operational requirements.
In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process or in your day‑to‑day role.
