The Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to the UK’s Armed Forces, and will give you the chance to grow your skills and knowledge in an area of Systems Engineering that deals with some the latest technologies being utilised by the Royal Navy.

Day-to-day, you will lead the through-life technical delivery and systems engineering activity for projects or work package developments that underpin Test, Trials, Training and Evaluation (T3E) activity at our BUTEC site. You will largely work on projects that draw on existing technical expertise, whilst broadening your systems engineering competencies and personal leadership skills. As a senior engineer there is scope to develop either deeper Subject Matter Expertise, System or Platform specialism and or Technical leadership and Systems skills. You will work in conjunction with the project manager and lead multi-disciplinary teams on projects with support of broader technical community and contribute to development of best practice and growth of capability around you, mentoring and learning from others.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Executing key systems engineering activities on significant projects
• Installing and operating the Test and Development System
• Supporting HAM safety reviews
• Integration with Shared Computing Environments

• Directing technical documentation in support of work carried out

• Dealing with on-site issues that emerge in relation to trials planning and communication with stakeholders

Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer:

• Relevant experience in an aligned engineering field
• Experience in Test & Evaluation or Integration

Essential qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer:

• Honours Degree in Engineering, Physics or similar. HNC/D Level qualification is acceptable if accompanied with appropriate experience

BUTEC

BUTEC (British Underwater Test & Evaluation Centre) is a specialised facility focused on underwater testing and evaluation. It supports the development and assessment of various maritime systems including submarines, autonomous underwater vehicles and naval munitions. Working towards the advancement of underwater technology including innovations in sonar, navigation and communication systems in real-world scenarios.
