Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the systems engineering activities across the full UAV development lifecycle, applying MBSE to design, requirements management, and integration of autonomous aircraft systems.

You will work with software, electronics, mechanical, and flight test teams to ensure seamless system integration, lead verification and validation activities, and produce essential technical documentation while staying at the forefront of UAV and defence technologies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience applying MBSE methodologies and tools.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, integration, verification, validation).
• Experience with complex multidisciplinary programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering across full UAV development lifecycle.
• Apply MBSE to support design, architecture and requirements management.
• Define, capture and manage system requirements for autonomous aircraft systems.
• Support design and integration of flight control, navigation, payload and mission systems.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, mechanical and flight test teams for system integration.
• Lead verification, validation and acceptance activities at subsystem and platform level.
• Conduct trade studies and system analyses to inform design decisions.
• Support flight trials and testing to meet operational objectives.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout development lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of UAV/autonomy/defence tech to drive innovation.

As they continue to scale, they are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in the development, integration, and delivery of cutting-edge unmanned aerial platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the systems engineering activities across the full UAV development lifecycle.
• Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to support system design, architecture, and requirements management.
• Define, capture, and manage system requirements for complex autonomous and remotely operated aircraft systems.
• Support the design and integration of flight control, navigation, payload, communication, and mission systems.
• Work closely with software, electronics, mechanical, and flight test teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Lead verification, validation, and acceptance activities at subsystem and platform level.
• Conduct trade studies, system analysis, and performance assessments to inform design decisions.
• Support flight trials and testing activities, ensuring system performance meets operational objectives.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of emerging UAV, autonomy, and defence technologies to drive innovation within the business.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Systems Engineering within aerospace, UAV, autonomous systems, defence, robotics, or a related high-technology environment.
• Experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.
• Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements management, integration, verification, and validation.
• Experience working on complex multidisciplinary engineering programmes.
• Familiarity with flight control systems, autonomy, communications, sensors, or mission systems would be highly advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up or innovation-driven environment.
• Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
