Job description

NES Fircroft is currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer for our client, a global technology leader in electrification and automation.

Location: Aberdeen (travel included)

Position: Permanent

Role Overview

To ensure the Service portfolio is delivered effectively according to company standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers. Execute technical support, act as a specialist, and solve problems within own expertise. Proactively communicate with customers and internal sales teams to understand customer needs and utilize business opportunities for Service growth. The role will be based in Aberdeen and will require travel to UK offices and customer sites (both onshore and offshore).

Main Accountabilities
  • Understand and update existing hardware and software modules for the development and maintenance of company Control System products.
  • Prepare Design Specifications, Test Procedures, Method Statements, and Scopes of Work for modifications and upgrades.
  • Conduct assurance, integration, and testing of hardware and software modules.
  • Deliver updates to existing products and roll out new products, working closely with stakeholders, including customers and end users.
  • Support Bids and Proposals team in generating quotations.
  • Be available on an ‘on call’ basis to advise customers out of hours and, if necessary, make unscheduled site visits.
  • Advise clients on maintenance procedures, site planning, operational methods, process measurement, and control strategies.
  • Promote sales of maintenance services and equipment, including spare parts, and inform Sales of potential leads.
  • Compile Site Visit Reports and ensure follow-up actions are acknowledged.
  • Maintain Cyber Security Systems and Procedures.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and site attendance as needed.
  • Implement system modifications and interpret SORs from clients.
  • Manage spares and lifecycle.
  • Coordinate ad-hoc work scopes.

Requirements
Essential

  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, Industrial Networks, and Cyber Security.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with initiative, good planning, and follow-through.
  • Flexibility to travel to customer sites occasionally.
Desirable
  • Hands-on practical experience.
  • Offshore certification.
  • Knowledge of 800xA Control Systems.
  • Cyber Security awareness.
  • Understanding of Process control and loop performance.
  • Functional Safety certification.
