Description

Our Senior System Engineers (SSE) work on and lead a number of technical projects and manage a backlog of continuous service improvement (CSI) processes, ensuring our solutions are pragmatic, offer improved services to the customer, and align with our strategy, standards, policies and procedures as well as other project priorities and deadlines.

Working closely with Group IT project delivery teams, you'll be embedded within project squads to help drive integration, support migrations, and contribute to the successful rollout, decommissioning, or transformation of IT systems. This role involves collaboration with technical architects, project stakeholders, end users, and third-party vendors.

You'll be exposed to a diverse IT infrastructure landscape-including hardware, software, and network systems-with an expectation to contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices. This role will focus on process improvement and professional development

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and provision of IT solutions including full lifecycle mergers and acquisition (M&A) projects and group strategic projects.
  • On occasion, this role will be required to present to stakeholders, managing escalations with the Project Manager, and ensuring resources are assigned to the correct tasks within the squad and cadence is being achieved.
  • Evaluate changes and provide solutions for Stakeholder review.
  • Adhere to and ensures the enforcement of all business policies.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including systems configuration, processes, knowledge articles, test and project plans.
  • Escalate issues to the Lead System Engineer/Technical Value Manager/Project Manager.
  • Create improvements across the services and processes in networks and manage a Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) backlog.
  • Work with the wider IT Teams to drive integration.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Proven experience and understanding of all Window Operating Systems and Active Directory management (including Group Policy, login scripts and roles)
  • Good knowledge and experience of M365
  • Good working knowledge of core networking services - e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RDP, SNMP, LDAP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability in complex technical landscapes
  • Proven ability to produce high quality deliverables in terms of content and presentation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service
  • A strong understanding of cloud platforms, in particular Microsoft Azure
  • Experience using automated monitoring and alerting tools and reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • VMWare, including maintenance and provisioning
  • Experience of managing cloud platform environments including Azure
  • Installation and supporting of Microsoft Exchange and M365
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Intune
  • NAS / SAN storage infrastructures
  • Mobile Device Management
  • Knowledge of Telephony systems
  • IT related qualifications and/or Microsoft certifications - MSCE, MCITP
  • Demonstrable project experience: ideally within an M&A or Transformation environment where you have migrated, integrated or decommissioned systems, software and data.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop (or other virtualisation tools)
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Experience of migration tools for M365 services such as Sharegate, BitTitan, and Quest.
